BioKeralty’s commitment to research and responsible communication
On World Depression Day, BioKeralty would like to emphasise the importance of continuing to advance our understanding of this complex health condition, which affects millions of people around the world and remains one of the main challenges in public health.
Depression is not a sign of weakness or lack of willpower. It is a multifactorial disorder that many people experience in silence, often hidden behind routines, responsibilities or smiles that do not reflect their emotional reality. Therefore, promoting open, respectful and evidence-based conversation is essential to reducing stigma and fostering safer and more understanding environments.
Despite the availability of treatments, a significant proportion of people receiving antidepressants do not obtain the expected benefit. This situation reinforces the need to promote research and move towards more precise and personalised approaches.
In this context, BioKeralty actively participates in the communication and dissemination of the European OPADE project (Optimising and predicting the efficacy of antidepressants for patients suffering from severe depressive disorders through multi-omic analysis and a predictive tool based on artificial intelligence), an initiative that seeks to improve the biological understanding of depression and support healthcare professionals through innovative tools that optimise clinical decision-making. Through our work, we contribute to bringing the scientific advances of the project to society, the research community and key players in the healthcare system.
Today, in particular, we want to focus on the people who live with this condition and those who accompany them. Empathy, listening and respect are fundamental pillars for moving towards a more conscious and supportive society.
Mental health is health.
At BioKeralty, we reaffirm our commitment to rigorous, compassionate communication focused on social impact.
