SPRI highlights Biokeralty’s participation in OPADE, the European project applying artificial intelligence to the treatment of depression
The Basque Business Development Agency (SPRI) has published an article on its blog about the European OPADE project, highlighting the contribution of the Biokeralty Research Institute as a Basque company participating in this Horizon Europe-funded initiative.
The article describes how OPADE—whose full name is “Optimise and predict antidepressant efficacy for patient with major depressive disorders using multi-omics analysis and AI-predictive tool”—develops predictive tools based on artificial intelligence to improve the response to antidepressant treatments. The initiative focuses on the microbiota-brain axis and analyzes genetic, epigenetic, immunological, and microbiome profiles of patients with major depressive disorder to guide clinicians toward the most appropriate antidepressant for each individual.
Biokeralty participates in the consortium as a partner and leads the work package dedicated to the dissemination, communication, and exploitation of results. In addition, the Sanitas University Foundation, the Keralty Group’s university, acts as a clinical center, recruiting patients and collecting biological samples from Colombia.
This feature on the SPRI blog joins other recent recognitions of the project and reflects the growing visibility that OPADE is achieving in the Basque and European innovation ecosystem.
